A Plate Is a Plate
On the quiet violence of demanding things be other than what they are
Imagine you are sitting at the table.
In front of you sits an empty plate and a glass full of water.
You decide the plate should hold the water.
So you pour.
Then you grow angry at the plate for not being a glass.
The black wolf erupts, furious that the plate refused to perform as demanded.
The white wolf collapses, wounded that the plate failed to meet its needs.
The gray wolf never poured.
A plate is a plate.
To demand it become a glass is folly.
Most of what we call frustration is not the world denying us.
It is our inability to allow things to be what they are
The quiet violence against the nature of things.
